Tried the new SMS from gmail. Seems to work like a charm, now some friends that don't have SMS on their phone can still contact me! We did hit a use case that I would have thought to be pretty basic:
I sent a SMS to a friend via the gmail interface. I then proceeded to sign out of the chat. The friend replied to the message... and I never got a new email about it. Where did it go? It went to the "Chats" label, as a response to my message. It was not, however, obvious that I had not seen this new message. I really would have thought that the reply would have gone to my email if I'm not "online".
